Swarming Out

Today we did a test run of the “Swarming Out” performance. It looks promising. Actually we had planned to do the real ting, but the wind created a sand storm over the beach that made work impossible.

Low tide: Two people wait at the path where one enters the beach. They approach passers by that intent to make a walk at the beach and ask them to drag a bottle of sand, thus marking their route in a dark line. We also did attach GPS loggers to the bottles.
About 5 people are spread around the beach and collect the bottles as soon as they are emptied by walking.

During this performance we hope to find out if in a free space (the beach is cleaned of footsteps after each tide) people take differed routes to enter the space, or if the space itself generates a (series off) specific, somehow predetermined routes.
