Esther colored sand for a test. We see how the colors hold on the beach and we choose the ferro oxide (the third line). This is the sand we are going to make sand drawings of together with the students.
After that we started seeving beach sand and bring it to our workplace to dry and dye it. Two kids joined us immediately and did a whole bucket.

With Scheveningen at our backs and looking out over the North Sea, Esther Polak and Ivar van Bekkum will be staying at the P.A.I.R. to explore the seascape of the early 21st century. We will be looking for a way to humanize the inhumane largeness of the sea. Can this be done? What would such a seascape look like? Is it at all possible to express inhumane largeness or is it a concept that is by definition beyond human comprehension?
As part of our research we will conduct a workshop with the students of Art-Science of KABK Den Haag. The results of this workshop will be published here.
